"I qualified as a nurse many years ago but unfortunately had to give up my career and pin number (registration) in 2004 due to family commitments. My husband worked away overseas and with two young children it became impossible for me to work.
With my sons now grown up and a little bit more independent, I felt it was time for me to return to the workplace and restart my career in the NHS. I did not know where to start apart from looking in local newspapers. I rang a Hospital in my area and this is how I found out about NHS Jobs. I went onto the web site and found all my prayers had been answered.
I realised that I could no longer come back to the work place as a trained nurse and that nursing auxiliary would be the path to go. Once I had registered onto the web site and put in all of my details, the world was my oyster.
My profile was done so for each job I applied to do, my application was there waiting to go with just having to amend a few details. I was able to access details about each hospital I was looking into working in- I could obtain job descriptions and get the background history of a workplace.
With email alerts on a regular basis I felt I was more likely to find a job sooner than buying the local paper and being able to submit job applications online rather than posting them was much more effective. I could track the progress of each job application and it was a bonus to be alerted if any of my applications were successful.
I secured five job interviews and accepted a post at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. I cannot thank NHS Jobs enough. I now work as an auxiliary on the Acute Assessment Unit, I\\\\'m able to continue all different sorts of training programmes to raise my qualification. I highly recommend this web site to any one interested in working within the NHS."
