Our Pencil Museum in Keswick is a popular tourist attraction, attracting 80,000 visitors annually, telling the story of pencil manufacture in Cumbria, using exhibitions, a lively arts events program, and a vibrant education program. The museum has a successful retail sales outlet, and a 40 seater coffee shop. The Museum plays a strong role in the Keswick tourism community.

DEPUTY MUSEUM MANAGER: Salary £20,000pa
Purpose of the Job
To support the Manager by maximizing the museum’s profitability through retail sales, by ensuring an enjoyable, and high standard experience is delivered through excellent customer satisfaction to all visitors. You will be enthusiastic and embrace new ideas, managing your team to achieve great results.
Key Skills
Reporting to the Museum Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day running of the museum, supervising 10 part time staff, including their training & development. The position requires enthusiasm, excellent customer service skills, proven successful retail sales experience, communication skills and organizational ability. You must be able to deliver on sales-per-head, and therefore merchandising, sales and marketing ability are imperative to the role.
